Our co-operative of growers – individuality with tradition
In the year 1873 the vintager association and the wine-grower's association were founded in a village called Dernau in the middle of the beautiful Ahr valley. In the year 1970 they consolidated and formed a strong coalition, which the vintager associations of Bachem, Heimersheim, Bad Neuenahr and Rech joined in the following years. In 1981 we moved our headquarters to new facilities in Bad Neuenahr where individual types of wines are produced from the grapes of over 600 wine-growers.

Since 1993 we operate under the name of „Ahr Winzer e.G.“
Friends and customers can tour the modern factory of the “Ahr Winzer e.G.” and test various wines at either the new plant in Bad Neuenahr or at the original plant in Dernau. The wine-tasting takes place in a cosy atmosphere where professional advice helps them find their favourite wines.

The vineyards – natural environment and individually cultivated vines
The vineyards in the Ahr valley belong to one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany. Although the area is surprisingly far north, the conditions for vines are perfect. They prosper on the steep slopes and terraces of the Ahr valley which require specific knowledge and experience in wine-growing. Through quality-based pruning and selective hand-picking we guarantee a high quality vintage. Approximately 600 wineries of all different sizes take special care of their vines.

Awards and honours at competitions throughout Germany document our accomplishments. We offer wines for every taste and any occasion. Furthermore we have specialised in sparkling wines and distilled products such as marc and yeast brandy. Try them! Our experts will be happy to advise you.

Our wines – personality and character
Our cellar masters use a high-quality vintage and a gentle maturing process to assure we create wine of extraordinary quality. Our wines age in barrels of various sizes and are classified by the area, the variety of wine and the quality grades. The individual maturation of the wines from the best locations of the Ahr valley guarantees the perfect taste experience. These are hearty red and white wines for every occasion, noble wines created from fully matured grapes and quality-tested wines with special attributes (Prädikatswein) for highest expectations.

Our varieties – choose from a unique diversity
Our members know the high requirements for soil and climate each grape variety has. This knowledge determines the co-operative's range and varieties. The special red wines Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), Frühburgunder and Portugieser grow on a 420 acres big acreage. The Riesling is the highest quality wine in our range of white wines followed by an excellent Müller-Thurgau.
